A beautifully proportioned authentic French Normandie armoire. Made of oak, this is a lovingly cared for piece which dates from the mid to late 1800s. Externally the wood has a beautiful warm patina, enhanced with elegant hand carved detailing on the doors and cornice. Internally, it comes with a set of robust shelves. The armoire retains the original internal locking hook and a fully working key.
This armoire is fully knockdown, dissembling into manageable pieces for ease of transport. Being an older armoire it is held together with wooden dowel pegs. It will require 2 people to assemble. Buyers will receive a step by step guide to help them.
Condition: Very good. As with all French furniture of this age there are idiosyncrasies and evidence of past historical woodworm. It has been fully treated as a precaution and is structurally very sound once assembled. The wood in the cornice has moved slightly over the years so that it does not fit flush to the side at the front (right hand side). This is not hugely noticeable but should be mentioned. The door key is slightly bent but still fully functional.
Measurements: H: 216 cm, W: 144 cm (widest point - cornice), D: 51 cm
