An exceptional authentic French Normandie armoire. Made of oak, this is a lovingly cared for piece which dates from the mid to late 1800s. Externally the wood has a beautiful warm patina, enhanced with elegant hand carved detailing on the doors and cornice. Internally, it offers a wealth of adaptable storage. It has a fitted hanging rail which can be used alone or with a combination of shelves and/or internal drawers. It comes with 3 robust shelves, one of which has 2 spacious fitted drawers. The armoire also retains the original internal locking hook.
This armoire is fully knockdown, dissembling into manageable pieces for ease of transport. Being an older armoire it is held together with wooden dowel pegs. It will require 2 people to assemble. Buyers will receive a step by step guide to help them.
Condition: Very good. As with all French furniture of this age there are idiosyncrasies and evidence of past historical woodworm. It has been fully treated as a precaution and is structurally very sound once assembled. A mending plate has been fitted to the rear of one of the back feet.
