A fine example of the classic Peugeot Freres Coffee Mill, circa 1910. These unique ‘boite et tirior’ coffee mills were the first home use coffee grinders and they were made and patented by the Peugeot brothers long before they started producing cars. The brass name plate shows the traditional Peugeot lion and that it was manufactured at their Valentigney factory near Paris. The mechanism consists of an Archimedean screw that draws the beans down from the hopper and splits them before they enter mill wheel where they are ground to a fine powder. This one is in good condition and works perfectly.
