An authentic antique Louis Philippe French armoire. Made of Chestnut, this is an exceptionally elegant and robust piece which dates from the mid to late 1800s. A quality piece in its day, the external wood has a beautiful grain and honey coloured hue. Internally, the armoire is spacious and very clean. It comes with a shelf and fitted hanging rail as well as a large base drawer. The armoire retains the original fully working key.
This armoire is fully knockdown, dissembling into manageable pieces for ease of transport. It will require 2 people to assemble. Buyers will receive a step by step guide to help them.
Condition: Good. As with all French furniture of this age there are idiosyncrasies and signs of wear. There are several areas of missing trim. Both sides of the armoire feature splits in the wood. This is not damage, it is due to the wood expanding and contracting in different temperatures as armoires of this age were not designed to suit modern heating. The splits run along the grain of the wood and do not affect the stability of the piece. The base drawer has warped slightly and can be a little temperamental. The armoire has been priced to reflect these issues.
Measurements: H: 218 cm, W: 142 cm (widest point - cornice), D: 54 cm
