An authentic antique brass French oil lamp. Dating from around 1910, it is rare to find one in such superb condition. Although well over 100 years old this lamp shows no signs of wear and works perfectly. The brass which usually has worn thin by this age is perfect and hence the wording can still be clearly read. It tells us it was made by the Futree company and is the ‘OLYMPE’ model with the words Marque Deposee (trade mark) beneath the Olympic Symbol. These little lamps were sometimes referred to as ‘Vintners Lamps’ as the ‘vintner’ took them down to the cellar to select the wine. The wick is encased in felt so that if knocked over it was able to live up to the manufacturers guarantee of ‘Inexplosible’.
Condition: This oil lamp is in over all excellent condition having been recently cleaned and refurbished. It comes with a wick and is ready to use.
Measurements: H: 24 cm, W: 8 cm
