A rustic painted French armoire. In the Louis Philippe style, this dates from the late 1800s/early 1900s and is highly decorative, with pretty floral carvings on the doors and cornice. This armoire is particularly petite making it ideal for cottages and properties with difficult access. It has been sympathetically painted and waxed to maintain its rustic character whilst highlighting the pretty detailing. Internally it is very clean and comes with the original 3 shelves. These have been decorated previously with a hard wearing floral patterned paper which is washable. The armoire comes with a key, which no longer works but is a lovely added feature.
This armoire is fully knockdown, dissembling into manageable pieces for ease of transport. Being an older armoire it is held together using wooden dowel pegs. It will require 2 people to assemble. Buyers will receive a step by step guide to help them.
Paint: Fired Earth ‘Verd Antique’ eco-friendly eggshell
Finish: Black wax/clear wax
Condition: Fair to Good. This is a characterful and rustic piece which wears its age with pride. It has a few small age related idiosyncrasies but once assembled is structurally very sound. Note that a decorative piece is missing from the side of the right foot.
